We chose the name Wine and Water because the locality is rich in both. There are many commercial vineyards in the region, the closest being well known Bergerac. Quite a few picturesque, pocket sized, private vineyards remain close by, adding to the rural charm of the area. The river Dronne with its kingfishers and dragonflies flows through Creyssac and is a short walk from the house. Canoeing is a popular and well catered for leisure activity. The natural spring, which bubbles up about 50yds from the house, feeds the wash house (lavoir). It is a delightful spot for paddling on hot days.Location
For the more active visitor wanting to enjoy the countryside with its abundance of flora and fauna the area lends itself to walking, cycling (there is mountain bike hire available locally at Renamont, Montagrier and other nearby towns), canoeing (hire available, see below) and horse riding. Creyssac has a population of about 80 souls. There is a snack bar, “Le Cabanon”, on the bank of the river Dronne at the “Communale”, about 300yds from the house. This is also a stop off stage for canoes coming down the river from Bourdeilles or Brantôme. Your accommodation is in the centre of the village, opposite the East end of the Norman period church.(see photograph of view from bedroom 1). Creyssac is an hours drive from Bergerac airport, which is served by Ryan Air (Stansted, East Midlands , Liverpool) and Flybe (Southampton, Birmingham, Exeter, Bristol) both of whom frequently offer cheap flights.
